Are you an experienced Senior Technical Artist who wants to work in collaboration with art and engineering teams to optimise performance and visual quality on a brand-new game with a hugely popular IP?
As a Senior Tech Artist on this unannounced project being developed in UE5, you will apply your proven technical and creative knowledge to help the team achieve the artistic vision of the game without being compromised by the limitations of software, engine, processes or pipelines.
This is a role for an experienced problem solver who can utilise their skills to compliment the existing tech art team, and have significant impact on the game, as you will be creating solutions that enable to the team to make their vision a reality.
What you’ll be doing:
- Bridge the gap between art and engineering, supporting development through effective use of content creation tools and pipelines.
- Work autonomously to rapidly deliver feature prototypes using your in-depth knowledge of Unreal Engine workflows and capabilities.
- Collaborate with content creators to identify and implement improvements to asset creation, delivery, and maintenance pipelines.
- Deliver professional quality tools and scripts for art packages (Python, MEL, Z-script) or tools that extend to the game engine.
- Identify and implement optimizations to help achieve performance and quality targets.
- Drive quality standards and ensure all content is meeting technical specifications while hitting the art direction criteria.
- Undertake R&D endeavours on new and emerging technologies to aid with prototyping and problem solving.
- Provide feedback, mentoring and coaching for other developers & tech artists.
- Take ownership of key deliverables and drive them forward to delivery.
What we’re looking for:
- Excellent knowledge and experience working on games in Unreal Engine.
- Proven experience writing and maintaining Shaders in Unreal Engine.
- Demonstrable experience of writing and maintaining Python tools for artists, in and out of engine.
- Knowledge of and exposure to traditional DCCs Maya/Blender/3ds Max etc.
- Experience using Substance Designer/Painter.
- Clear experience of writing validations in engine and maintaining them.
- Knowledge, understanding and experience of tracking and maintaining GPU performance across multiple platforms.
- Strong experience writing and maintaining technical documentation.
- Experience using Perforce or similar software.
